In an effort to get flying Emery (My Son) and I
started building an Affordaplane Ultralight.

We bought plans for the A Plane (Affordaplane) and started
with just materials and plans.

Aluminum Is soft enough to cut with power tools equiped
with carbide blades.

The frame is held together with bolts and gussets.
There is no welding required with this project construction.
Many failures have been attributed to failed weld joints.

In this picture we are adding the landing gear. This plan calls
for tail dragger landing gear. The two type of landing gear are
1. Tricycle landing gear. (like on a childs tricycle)
with two main gear legs and one steerable mose gear.
2. Tail dragger landing gear again with two main gear
legs and one trailing, steerable wheel under the tail.

This view is detail of the main landing gear. The plans
called for a much weaker set up but as new pilots we
wanted stronger gear to absorb much higher shock loads.

This is the fixed area of the tail section. In this picture
it is just sitting on the frame

This is the fixed area of the tail section mounted .

The seat and human factors check.

The seat out and motor mounted. Notice the
snowmobile centrifical clutch still mounted.

Some additional pictures of further progress.
